Outreach & Leadership

I am a woman with a Bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s in Computer Science — two fields where women remain a small minority, and where that minority shrinks at every career stage.

During my undergraduate years I was elected class representative every year and attended faculty board meetings. In that capacity I proposed and co-founded Punt Lila (“Purple Point”, pictured), a student committee supporting victims of sexual assault and discrimination at university events, and drafted the first campus-wide protocol for responding to such incidents at UPC. As a class representative I also mentored freshmen and was elected student union’s tresaurer from my sophomore through senior year.

Since my Master’s I have continued mentoring newer students as an instructor in Programming and Data Structures at UPC — courses where the gender gap in enrollment is starkest.
